Big Blunder At The Oscars When Winner Of “Best Picture” Was Announced Incorrectly

Oopsey! Even all the planning for a major award show like the Annual Academy Awards, mistakes can happen, especially for a live event.

And a major mistake that has been trending since the airing of the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday night just so happens to be the one down during the announcement of “Best Picture”. Some would even call this the biggest Oscars mistake of all times!

With the award being the biggest and most important, the announcement mishap of the winner happens to be one of the most talked moments that happened that evening.

What happened was that ‘La La Land’ was announced to have been the winner for the category, before it was stated that “Moonlight” was actually the winners. They clarified the situation by saying that the winner was announced wrong after being read incorrectly, and that it was not a joke.

Pricewaterhousecoopers, the accountancy firm that was in charge of overseeing the tallying of Oscar ballots, however apologized and claimed responsibility for the mishap since the presenters did not actually “read the wrong thing”. The firm apologized to ‘Moonlight’, ‘La La Land’, presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, as well as the viewers for the error.

Despite not actually being the winner of “Best Picture”, the film won a total of six awards Sunday night, while ‘Moonlight’ won three.
